Race Overview

Located just 45-minutes north of downtown Atlanta, Red Top Mountain State Park is the site of the 1864 Battle of Allatoona Pass during the American Civil War.
With over 15 miles of trails, the park is surrounded by Lake Allatoona and is a favorite spot for trail runners, hikers, and open water swimmers.
You and your partner will journey clockwise around the lake through the stunning coves and around the mountain.
Up to 40 teams will be accepted for each race distance on a first come, first serve basis.
Weather Policy:
Safety is of the utmost importance to the organizers of SwimRun Georgia. As with all of our events, we will be tracking the weather in the weeks and days leading up to the race. Please keep in mind that this event has a no refund policy and this includes if the race is cancelled due to an “act of God.” All race related items have already been paid for by the race production team.
Rules Overview
1.) The course will consist of a series of alternating overland routes and swim legs around Red Top Mountain. Participants will be required to follow the prescribed route and any deviation will be ground for disqualification. The course is completed in teams of two racing at the same time, not in relay style.
2.) Required Equipment includes:
A. One (1) whistle per person
B. One (1) First Aid Pressure Bandage, packed waterproof
C. Personal safety buoy (MANDATORY for solo athletes and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for teams)
3.) Competitors may also carry:
A. Swim Hand paddles/gloves
B. Compression calf sleeves or socks
C. Swim pull buoy affixed to thigh
D. Compass or watch compass
E. Hydration bladder/bottle
F. Additional Nutrition
G. Personal safety buoy (MANDATORY for solo athletes and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for teams)
4.) Wetsuits
Wetsuits* worn by all competitors covering at a minimum, the torso and upper half of thighs. (*Note: we will be enforcing a 120 degree rule meaning if the air plus water temperature is under 120 degrees F at the start, wetsuits are required. If it is over 120, they will be optional but still recommended.) For example, if the air temperature is 52 and the water temperature is 65, the combined temperature is 117 so wetsuits would be required.
4.) Course Cutoffs
A. The Long Course Cut Off will be 5.5 hours
B. The Short Course Cut Off will be 3 hours

Long Course Race
You and your partner will start with a short run to the first cove where you will begin to travel clockwise around the mountain. This race will involve 11.11 miles of running and 2.89 miles of swimming..
You must remain within 10 meters of your partners at all time. Wetsuits are required and hand paddles, pull buoys are allowed. View full list of the course rules and equipment needed.
Short Course Race
You will start with a short run to the first cove where you will begin to travel clockwise around the mountain. This race will involve 1.2 miles of swimming and 6 miles of running.
